Cultivating the science of nature for an ever more sustainable growth
Working to enhance the potential of natural sources, Biosphere expresses its green DNA contributing to the development of a sustainable production model.
A mission that the company carries on by getting involved in different R&D activities and engaging itself on several fronts such as bioeconomy and EU-funded R&D projects consortia.
CIRCULAR BIOECONOMY
Committed to a growth path led with a sustainable approach, Biosphere’s internal research and development activities focus on a wide range of areas of interest, within the common framework of circular bioeconomy.
PRODUCTION OF BIO-BASED MOLECULES AND MATERIALS THROUGH FERMENTATION
Fermentation is a key pillar of our research into circular bioeconomy. nWe are committed to exploring the potential of fermentation processes for the production of bio-based materials, such as bioplastics of microbial origin, that can replace traditional petrochemical-based products.
VALORIZATION OF BY-PRODUCTS
Agriculture and the agro-food industry generate significant quantities of by-products. Our research delves into turning these materials into valuable resources, reducing waste but also creating new opportunities for economic growth.
EXTRACTION OF HIGH-VALUE MOLECULES
Vegetable sources offer a treasure of high-value molecules, from bioactive compounds to essential oils. Our R&D teams are at the forefront of developing novel extraction methods to unlock the potential of these sources. These molecules find applications in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and beyond.
ANAEROBIC DIGESTION AND BIOREFINERY
Anaerobic digestion is a powerful tool in converting organic waste into energy and valuable by-products. Our research explores optimizing anaerobic digestion processes for maximum efficiency and waste reduction. Moreover, we see anaerobic digestion as a key step of modern biorefineries, where biomass is converted into a spectrum of products, from biofuels and energy to high value biochemicals.
R&D PROJECT CONSORTIA
In line with its green soul, Biosphere takes part in collaborative EU-funded R&D projects intended to boost the competitiveness of the European economy by taking great ideas from the lab to the market. The ideal project consortium for these funding programs is a blend of RTOs, SMEs and industrial end users from different countries.
Merging R&D expertise in Industrial Biotechnology with industrial experience, Biosphere can add real value to a consortium and play an active role in successful R&D projects.
Currently, Biosphere is part of two projects:
THE BIZENTE PROJECT
Part of the Horizon funding program, it is a project currently running in the development of a model of enzymatic degradation as a solution for the end-of-life of thermoset composites.
Our advanced expertise in biotechnologies can be applied to many industries and markets.
